Build Sponsorship

Build partnerships come in many forms. For example, in 2003 Volition donated all of the funds for a home, with the Philo Road Church of Christ providing all of the volunteer labor.

In 2007 Thrivent Financial for Lutherans donated 65% of the cost to build two homes, with 10% supplied by area Lutheran Congregations and the remainder from the Illini Radio Group. Volunteers came from all parts of the community to help on the work site.

Every other year, the University of Illinois Student Chapter raises 100% of the funds and supplies all of the build volunteers. Sample of a full partnership agreement:

 

Build Partner contributes:

  • $64,5000 in funds needed to build the Habitat home;
  • Up to 20 volunteers per build day for 12 build days;
  • Volunteers to provide beverages, snacks and lunches for all workers on the work site during build days (not subcontractors).

HfHCC contributes:         

  • A build-able lot for construction of a new home;
  • Building and site plans;   
  • A qualified homeowner family selected on the basis of need, ability to pay, and willingness to provide sweat equity;
  • A 20-year interest free mortgage to the homeowner family;
  • All legal work for the project;
  • Insurance coverage for the house and volunteers;
  • A Construction Manager
  • A Finance Manager
  • A Build Volunteer Manager
  • A Development Director
  • An Executive Director
  • Ongoing support for the homeowner during the 20-year mortgage period.

 

The Family contributes

  • A $500 down payment;
  • 250 hours of sweat equity on construction of the new home and other HfHCC homes or projects;
  • Monthly payments on a 20-year, interest-free mortgage;
  • Payment of real estate taxes and homeowner's insurance; and
  • Good stewardship of the new home and property.

In addition, Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County & ReStore offers the following opportunities to recognizebuild partners:

    • On-site celebrations open to the public
    • Photo opportunities in local media
    • Thank you in a weekly online publication with 2,000 subscribers for the duration of the fundraising and home build
    • Permanent recognition our Web site
    • Recognition in Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County Annual Report
    • Testimonial from Habitat for Humanity to use on your company website and in print materials
    • Use of our logo (as recognizable world-wide as Nike’s) on your company website and in print materials
    • Color thank you in our ReStore (average 600 customers per week) including your logo
