Over $10,000 has been raised towards the $64,500 needed
to break ground on the Women Build home at 114 N Cottage Grove in
Urbana. As the ReStore covers Habitat's administrative costs, all
funds donated to home builds goes directly to home builds.
Habitat homes cost $65,000 - $95,000 to build depending on
the land under development. Our affiliate raises $64,500 for each
home build. Habitat itself covers any expense in excess (more
below). Each home has a 20-year, zero interest mortgage, also at
$64,500. Principal payments ($75 - $250 per home owner each month
depending on the age of the home) help to defray the cost of future
home builds (up to $30,000 per build). Donor investment in the homes
is protected from "flipping" with a 10-year profit-sharing clause in
each mortgage.
Amasong:
Champaign-Urbana's Premier Lesbian/Feminist Chorus, has offered to
donate one dollar for each attendee of their winter concerts to the
Women Build.
The performances will be on December 8 at 730pm
and December 9 at 4pm at McKinley
Presbyterian (809 S 5th, C).

| Did you know? Empty Tomb |
| |
empty tomb, inc. is, like Habitat, a Christian
service and research organization. In the Champaign-Urbana area,
those services include:
* Christian Family to Family
Relationships: This work provides support structures and encourages
friendships between Christians with resources and families in
need.
* Christian Health Services: Christian Health Services
provides a Christian nurse at Frances Nelson Health Center. Layettes
are prepared for newborns, and limited medical prescription funds
are available.
* Clothing Work: Clothing is provided on a
drop-off basis and is available free in Jesus' name.
* Free
Food Work: Congregations donate money to purchase food, or collect
canned goods and deliver food from their pantry to families in need.
* Furniture Work: Donated furniture is picked up and
delivered to needy households.
* Helping Work: Limited cash
grants are available for various emergency needs, such as rent
assistance, power bills, and prescriptions.
* Home
Maintenance Work: Designed to help low-income people who own their
homes to make renovations; labor is done free in Jesus' name.
We have been blessed by empty tomb's support of
Habitat through our shared "furniture mission," routing goods and
donation opportunities to each other whenever possible. Thank
you! |
